Community Amentities for Dogs

by admin on December 8, 2010

Recently our Homeowners Association agreed fence in an unused area for a off-leash dog area. To say it’s a “dog park” is a gross exaggeration as there is no grass and the ground covering is large gravel. Our HOA Board has taken a short-sighted view and deemed that if we desire improvements for the area, the homeowners dog lovers will have to fund the improvements themselves. USA Today had an article about community amenities, putting them in two categories: natural and purposeful. In the article, they stated that the #1 amenity is hiking and walking trails, and that pet-friendly options are increasingly more important. Our small pet-friendly homeowners group needs to be armed with more information and data to make our case that this amenity adds value and appeal to the community. Does anyone have information to share about any community pet-friendly amenities?
